SEASON 2017 Continues... Round 10 v Greenvale

The match anticipated return clash between top of the table ladder-leader Greenvale and second placed Aberfeldie proved an exciting match in the first half with only a point separating the two teams at the first break.  It was then level at half-time and in the third term Greenvale took to the front and stamped their eventual dominance on the game. Whilst any loss is discourgaing we remind everyone it wasn't a grand final - just a middle season match. Despite a valiant effort, our dreams of securing a first position victory were dashed.  Granted, the stakes were high and Greenvale remains on top for the time being. The final score was Greenvale 15.14 (104) def. Abers 12.10 (82).  Kyle Reimers booted a handy 5 goals for us and Best Players were Allan, Toy, Reimers, Davis, Z. Hislop and Berry.

The Reserves teams also lost their match but were ably supported by Under 19s players Mark Gregory, Samuel Medland, Daniel Morano and Mitch Robinson who would have all benefited from the extra experience gained from playing at a higher level.  The  Under 19s had a fixtured bye and will be looking to atone their last loss to Maribyrnong Park when we host Keilor this coming week.  The Thirds played Maribyrnong Park at home in a tight, hard fought match, losing the game by just four points.

In the interim we encourage all members and supporters to continue to get behind the club and the players for the remainder of this year's campaign and join together in this important passage in time.  We look forward to the challenge and of seeing you all there at our games!

Below: Cousins Jacob Thompson and our own Daniel Thompson battle it out to gain an advantage at Section Road Reserve in the senior match against Greenvale FC.

Join our Abers Team App

In 2015 we were pleased to announce that we created our own smartphone application through the Team App program! This is primarily targeted at players and officials of the senior football section who will be put into access groups for improved communication purposes but standard members are allowed to sign up to become basic supporters and to receive news and information from in and the club.  At this point event notifcations and other news commence the week of Round 1 and continue for the duration  of the season.

If you have an iPhone, iPad, iPod or Android equivalent (Samsung, HTC, Sony etc.) you can go to the App Store or Google Play and download the application to your phone. Once you have done that you must sign up to the program which is 100% free. Then, search for ABERFELDIE FOOTBALL and request access. Once approved by the Administrator - and the season begins - you will be given updates to news, fixtures, team ladders and social events applicable to the senior football section. Welcome aboard!
